The Craftsman Training Scheme was introduced by government of India in 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skill workers in different trades for the domestic Industries, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the Industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable training, to cultivate and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of younger generation. The scheme, most important in the field of vocational training , has been shaping Craftsmen to meet the existing as well as future manpower need, through the vast network of ITIs' in the state.

The ITI college campus is situated in the lap of nature in which scenic beauty is in its full. It is quite a tranquil area suitable to imbibe the stream of knowledge. The college is located at Kalpakanchery (Kadungathukundu) hardly 2.5 k.m.s from Puthanathani Junction and about 7 kilometers from Tirur Railway Station. The college is surrounded by scenic beauty conductive to the pursuit of knowledge in tranquility and serenity.

Valavannur Bafakhy Yatheemkhana Pvt .ITI, is one of the most prestigious and renowned Industrial Training institute in Kerala. The aim of the institute is to provide technically skilled manpower to industries by providing training in a safe 'hands on' workshop style environment. The endeavour is also to reduce unemployment among educated youth by equipping them for suitable industrial employment- which, from a macro-perspective, is an important step in the direction of utilizing country's demographic dividend. It’s qualified trainers who have up-to-date knowledge and experience of industry are dedicated to help students, realize their complete potential who can adjust to changing demands of industry as well as be future entrepreneurs. My message to the trainees is that, in order to face the challenges of today's industry, in addition to technical skills, they need to attain proficiency in soft skills which would enhance their interactions, job performance and career prospects. They must also remember that persistence and perseverance are crucial to success in life. The sun may be hidden under the dark clouds for a long time but the ultimate victory of the sun cannot be denied. Just as the fire makes gold shine brighter, hard work brings luster to man's personality and character. They must keep in mind that their dexterity and adroitness is a reflection of the institute they are trained at. With dedication and hard work they will certainly become Electricians, Electronic Technicians, Foremen and Mechanics , Draughtsmen, Overseers, Interior designers, Automobile mechanics etc. who have a name and recognition in the field of their specialization and gradually rise to higher levels of achievement. At VBY Private ITI, under cool atmosphere, with the guidance of the Instructors and of the ITI administrative staff, the trainees will be trained in the respective trades to achieve the goals of life, to preserve through difficult times, to develop their future either pursuing higher qualifications or by becoming entrepreneurs.

VBY ITI, established in 1981 by Valavannur Bafakhy Yatheem Khana at Kalpakanchery, Malappuram, Kerala is a premier institute imparting training in different trades under the affiliation of National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi.

VBY ITI is more than a center of learning and home to a diverse community of innovators and entrepreneurs. In every classroom and practical workshop, you will find unique people who are passionate about learning, teaching and collaborating on groundbreaking technologies.

Valavannur Bafakhy Yatheem Khana was established in 1974 by the Tirur Taluk Sunni Orphanage Committee to commemorate the glorious contributions made by Late Sayyed Abdul Rahman Bafakhy Thangal to the Indian Muslims in their educational, cultural and social upliftment. The indefatigable spirits of Chappanangadi Bappu Musliyar and Panakkad P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal led the Sunni Muslims of Valavannur to start this establishment as an asylum for the helpless orphans. On 4th April 1974 P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal inaugurated this Yatheem Khana with 51 orphans. It was aimed at the rehabilitation and education of the socially, economically, culturally and educationally alienated unfortunate orphans.

Now about 300 orphans get Islamic as well as modern education here. This institution passes twenty five years of glorious service to the community with more than a dozen of various institutions comprising educational, technical and health services. Under these institutions of VBY about 4000 students are studying and 300 people are employed.

Under the honourable stewardship of President Sayyed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Panakkad, VBY is marching ahead through the path of progress.
